Tonic w/ Artanker Convoy

We love to play at Tonic. Its so casual. This time we had one $10 camera that Arthur of Artanker Convoy got for us at a garage sale, and one nice camera, each on its own projector. As usual, everything was created from available light. No computers, and now pre-recorded source tapes. The theme for the evening was "nothing can stop us from enjoying this." Does it show?

CMJ @ Tonic w/ Artanker Convoy

CMJ refers to the College Music Journal's huge gathering in New York every year. Artanker Convoy and MUX were part of the scene. It was a complete psychedelic set. The band wore all white to suck the visuals into them, but being in the picture, they never actually see the effect they help to generate. The MUX players all wear white for synchronicity, though there usually isn't any video on us. Other bands from the Social Registry, the label the Convoy is on, also played. Telepathy, one of the bands, had an interesting overhead projector analog of the algorythmic video we do. We hope that Tonic will be around for a long time to come...

Render @ Dancenow/DTW

The last US performance of this work by Japanese artist Naoko Kikuchi was also her last performance before she left the country. Naoko did dance one other piece in this modern dance sampler and received a standing ovation at the curtain call. She made quite a buzz in the dance world. For more information about Render check out our Works page.

Labor Day Rooftop Party

Well, we thought we were going to Brazil. So we had this fund raiser on a rooftop in Greenpoint. The turnout was good. We didn't charge anything for admission. Instead we served up all kinds of grilled goodies and wine and beer. The money will pay for our DVD production/duplication, which WILL get us to Brazil sometime next year.

Miss Williamburg w/ Artanker Convoy

Once again we can't help MUXing it up with the Convoy. We dropped the visuals on a plywood wall in the courtyard. Without dancers it was on the visualists to make the light dance on our own. We doubled up the feedback units and went crazy analog math. Very enticing results (pictured above). Artanker Convoy sadly ended too soon, and we had to gracefully decline Brooke's request to MUX for the other bands. We like to mix it up, but not at the same party. Too risky.
