Arthur J Owens

ArTanker started playing rock drums in fourth grade, and studied with jazz great Tony DiNicola while in junior high. He met future DFA and LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy in high school, and in 1991 they formed the psychedelic rock group known throughout rural NJ as The Jinx Clambake Explosion. Following that group's demise a year later, ArTanker formed Stratotanker. Stratotanker recorded two records for Homestead, an EP and a single for AUM Fidelity, one record for Anisette and split singles and compilation contributions for labels whose names I don't remember. Artanker's musical ambitions have been finally realized with the formation of the sextet, Artanker Convoy, which provides much of the soundscapes for MUX projects. |
